A prop firm rules page assumes you already know its vocabulary. It says "trailing drawdown measured on equity", "qualifying trading day", "consistency rule", and explains none of them, although each can end an account. This glossary defines 60 prop trading terms in seven groups: evaluation, risk limits, rules, payouts, platforms, crypto and Dolvero's own vocabulary. Where a term has a number behind it, that number is the current Dolvero value, verified on 10 September 2026.
- The same word means different things at different firms. "Trading day", "daily loss limit" and "consistency rule" cost the most accounts.
- Every risk limit here is measured on equity, so open positions count at every moment, not only when they close.
- Static drawdown fixes a floor under your starting balance. Trailing drawdown follows your best result up, so profit given back is capital lost.
- Crypto evaluations add a second vocabulary: perpetual, funding rate, liquidation and API key.
- Every Dolvero term below has a published value, every change to it is dated in a public changelog, and the rules in force when your account starts stay locked to it.

1. Evaluation and account types
What you are buying, and what has to happen first.
Evaluation (challenge)
A paid test on a firm account with a profit target and risk limits. Dolvero refunds the fee with your second payout.
Phase
One stage of an evaluation with its own target: two on a 2-Step, one on a 1-Step. No Dolvero phase has a time limit.
2-Step
Two phases, 10% profit then 5%, on the widest Dolvero limits: 5% daily loss, 10% static drawdown, no consistency or inactivity rule.
1-Step
One phase and a 10% target, with a 3% daily limit and a 6% trailing drawdown. Funded faster, on tighter numbers.
Instant Funding
A funded account issued with no evaluation and no target, on a 2% daily limit and 5% trailing. The test moves to the payout gate.
Profit target
The profit, in percent of starting balance, that ends a phase: 10% then 5% on the 2-Step models, 10% on the 1-Step models, none on Instant.
Qualifying trading day
A day that counts toward the minimum. Dolvero counts one only if it closes at least 0.5% in profit; five are needed per phase.
Funded account
The account you trade after passing, paid on a share of profit. Your model's limits and the news and weekend rules still apply.
Simulated funded account
The industry term for trading a firm account rather than your own or a client's capital, for a contractual share of the result. See the Terms.
Scaling plan
How a funded account grows. Dolvero adds 25% every three months of consistent profit, up to $200,000, then by invitation.

2. Risk limits and drawdown
The two numbers every account lives between.
Daily loss limit
The most you may lose in one trading day, measured against that day's starting balance and reset at the server's day boundary.
Maximum drawdown
The total loss an account may take before it closes. It never resets: 10% on the 2-Step, 6% on the 1-Step and crypto models, 5% on Instant.
Static drawdown
A floor fixed under the starting balance that never moves. On a $100,000 2-Step it stays at $90,000 even at $112,000 of equity.
Trailing drawdown
A floor that follows your best result up and never comes back down, so giving profit back costs the same as losing capital.
High-water mark
The highest point an account has reached, and what a trailing floor measures from. Room never accumulates on it.
Equity vs balance
Balance is closed money; equity adds the floating result of what is still open. Dolvero measures both limits on equity, so a one-second dip is a breach.
Risk per trade cap
A limit on what one idea may risk, which most firms lack. Dolvero caps it at 2% of balance on the 2-Step and 1-Step.
Breach
The moment a rule is broken and the account is invalidated. Of 1,138 Dolvero accounts with a breach, the daily limit appears in 75.4%.
The cap means an evaluation cannot be passed, or ended, by one oversized position. It appears in 6.8% of breached Dolvero accounts, almost always because several entries in the same direction were stacked into one idea. Traders with a tested larger-size method take the No Risk Limit add-on.
3. Rules and prohibited strategies
Everything that can end an account without a dollar of loss.
Consistency rule
A cap on how much of total profit may come from one day. None on the Dolvero 2-Step and 1-Step; 15% on Instant only.
Inactivity rule
A rule that closes an untraded account. None on 2-Step and 1-Step; seven days on Instant, counted as 7 by 24 hours from your last activity, which closing a position resets.
News window
The restricted period around a release: at Dolvero 30 minutes each side of every High Impact event, on evaluation and funded, removed by the News Trading add-on.
Weekend holding
Holding across Saturday and Sunday, when a gap can jump through a stop. Dolvero requires everything closed before the Friday close, unless you buy the add-on.
Hedging
Offsetting positions that leave net exposure near zero, such as long EURUSD and short USDCHF. Prohibited at Dolvero on the same and correlated instruments, within and across accounts.
Copy trading
Mirroring trades from another source. Dolvero prohibits third-party signals and coordinated strategies across several Dolvero accounts, your own included.
Expert advisor (EA)
A program that trades for you. Allowed on Dolvero MT5 after a pre-approval review of 24 to 48 hours, free on crypto.
Martingale
Increasing size after a loss so one winner recovers the sequence. It turns many small losses into one large one; prohibited.
Grid
A ladder of orders at fixed intervals, so movement either way keeps opening positions. Exposure grows without a decision; prohibited.
Layering
Stacking entries into one idea until combined risk is larger than any ticket suggests. Prohibited, and the usual route to a 2% cap breach.
Latency arbitrage
Trading on a quote that is already stale, using the delay between feeds or venues. Prohibited with statistical arbitrage: profit from infrastructure, not a view.
One-sided betting
Trying to pass with one oversized bet and no risk management. Prohibited; it appears in 1.8% of breached accounts.

4. Payouts and verification
What reaches your account, and when.
Profit split
Your share of funded profit: 80% on the 2-Step, 1-Step and crypto models, 90% with the Profit Split Boost add-on, and 70, 80 then 90% across the first three Instant payouts.
Payout cycle
How often you may request money: 14 days after your first funded trade, then every 14 days.
Payout ledger
A public record of every processed payout, each with a verification code. Dolvero's transparency page showed 195 payouts, 2.1 hours average release and 100% inside 24 hours.
Processing fee
What the firm deducts. Dolvero charges a flat 1%, minimum $100 per request, by bank transfer, PayPal, Wise or USDT.
Refund
The return of the evaluation fee, paid in full with your second payout on every Dolvero challenge type.
KYC (identity verification)
The identity check before the first payout: a government ID plus a passive liveness selfie, most passing within minutes. No document is needed to buy a challenge.
5. Platforms and market mechanics
Terms that come from the platform, not the firm.
MetaTrader 5 (MT5)
The platform most CFD prop accounts run on, where orders, positions and deals are separate objects.
Dolvero WebTrader
Dolvero's browser platform for CFD and forex, on the same rules as MT5, with all times stored in UTC.
Server time
The clock your daily limit and the news window are measured against. Dolvero's MT5 server runs on Europe/Bucharest time, UTC+3 in summer and UTC+2 in winter, so the daily reset falls at 21:00 UTC in summer and 22:00 UTC in winter, which is 23:00 in Prague either way.
Lot
The unit of position size. One standard forex lot is 100,000 units of the base currency; fractions are accepted.
Pip
The smallest conventional price step, usually the fourth decimal, or the second against the yen. Its value depends on lot size.
Leverage
The ratio between position size and the money needed to hold it. It changes margin used, not risk, if stop distance and size are unchanged. Crypto runs up to 50x.
Margin
The part of equity set aside while a position is open. Free margin is what is left for new positions.
Spread
The gap between bid and ask, and the cost of entering and leaving. It widens around releases and at the rollover.
Swap
Overnight financing from the rate difference between the two sides of a pair, charged three times over the Wednesday rollover.
Slippage
The difference between the price you asked for and the price you got. Your limits count the price received.
6. Crypto evaluations on Bybit
Dolvero crypto evaluations run on Bybit demo, 700 plus pairs, markets open 24/7.
Bybit
The exchange hosting Dolvero crypto evaluations in demo mode, with two rules in your favour: no news restriction, no cap per trade idea.
API key
The credential connecting your Bybit demo account to the Dolvero dashboard so trades, equity and limits can be read. Bybit issues it.
Perpetual
A futures contract with no expiry, the standard crypto derivative. Because it never settles, the funding rate keeps it tied to spot.
Funding rate
A payment exchanged between long and short holders at intervals the exchange sets: positive means longs pay shorts. Farming it instead of trading is prohibited.
Liquidation
The forced closing of a leveraged position when margin runs out. On an evaluation the daily limit is usually breached long before.
7. Dolvero vocabulary
Nine terms specific to Dolvero, including all five add-ons by name.
Add-on
An option added to the fee at checkout that changes a rule for the life of the account. Four lift a restriction, one is a discount.
News Trading add-on
Plus 15%, all CFD models. Removes the news window on evaluation and funded, and by share of orders it is the one chosen most often.
Weekend Holding add-on
Plus 15%, all CFD models. Lets you hold through Saturday and Sunday instead of closing before the Friday close, as a swing method needs.
Profit Split Boost add-on
Plus 20%. Raises the split from 80% to 90% once funded, on every model except Instant, which reaches 90% by its third payout.
No Risk Limit add-on
Plus 20%, on 2-Step and 1-Step. Removes the 2% cap per trade idea; the daily and maximum limits stay as they were.
Relaxed Risk add-on
The one that lowers the price: minus 10% on the 2-Step, for a tighter 4% daily limit and 8% maximum drawdown.
Breach review
A published explanation of a disputed breach with the parameters, the trades and the arithmetic. Dolvero publishes one for every disputed case.
Changelog
The dated public log of every rule change: the only way to check what a rules page said last month. Dolvero's is at /changelog.
Rules locked
The commitment that the rules in force when your account starts stay with it; changes apply to accounts opened later.
How to read a prop firm rules page
Five questions decide whether the numbers on a pricing page mean anything.
- Find what the daily limit is measured against. That day's starting balance, initial balance plus the day's profit, or the higher of balance and equity all print as "5%".
- Check balance or equity. On equity a floating loss counts the moment it happens, which is why "it closed green" is not a defence.
- Read the definition of a trading day. Five days with a trade and five days closing at least 0.5% in profit are different requirements.
- Look for rules that appear only after you pass. News, weekend and consistency rules are often lifted on the evaluation and applied once funded. Dolvero applies the same rules at both stages.
- Find the changelog and check its date. A rules page with no version history says nothing about what it said last month.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a daily loss limit and a maximum drawdown?
The daily loss limit caps what you may lose in one trading day and resets at the server's day boundary. The maximum drawdown caps total loss and never resets: it is either fixed under the starting balance (static) or follows your best result upward (trailing).
What does a consistency rule require?
That no single day contributes more than a set share of total profit. Dolvero applies none on the 2-Step and 1-Step, and a 15% best-day limit on Instant Funding, checked at the payout gate.
What counts as a trading day at a prop firm?
At Dolvero, a day closing at least 0.5% of starting balance in profit, and five are required per phase. Other firms count any day on which a trade was opened, so the same number means different things.
What is a trailing drawdown and when does it stop moving?
A floor that follows your high-water mark upward by the drawdown percentage and never comes back down. The Dolvero 1-Step trails 6% below the equity high; Instant Funding trails 5% below the highest closed balance.
Which Dolvero add-on removes which rule?
News Trading removes the news window, Weekend Holding allows weekend positions, No Risk Limit removes the 2% cap per trade idea, Profit Split Boost raises the split to 90%, and Relaxed Risk cuts the fee by 10% for a tighter 4% and 8% envelope.
